The order, delivered by Resident Judge James E. Jones, follows a debt action filed by ECOBANK Liberia Ltd., represented by Managing Director George Mensah Asante.
The court’s directive commanded Bailiff Emmanuel C. Bowen, Acting Sheriff of the Debt Court, to seize and auction Minister Nyumalin’s assets to satisfy a debt totaling US$85,141.13.
The writ instructs that if the seized assets do not cover the debt, real properties should be seized until the full amount is recovered
Should Minister Nyumalin’s assets prove insufficient, the court has authorized the arrest of his person to compel payment or provide alternative assets for seizure.
The writ further requires that any recovered funds should be used to satisfy the judgment, with court costs and expenses to be deducted.
The Bailiff is also instructed to provide an official return detailing the service of the writ.
This enforcement action underscores the court’s commitment to uphold financial obligations and ensure that judgments are honored.
FrontPageAfrica has gathered that the amount was borrowed from the bank by Minister Nyumalin during the 2023 election era and that it is a portion of debt he has since endeavored to repay.
However, FrontPageAfrica further gathered, that Minister Nyumalin has fallen short of sticking to the deadline given to the bank to clear the remaining debt, which amounts to US$85,141.13.
Minister Francis S. Nyumalin served as Representative for Lofa County District Number One for Six years, from 2017 to 2023. He lost to current Deputy Speaker, Thomas P. Fallah
Minister Nyumalin is a ranking member of UP Alliance and this latest action from the court could serve as an embarrassment to him and President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s leadership.
This latest situation underscores the constraint commercial banks in Liberia face.
