Addressing a news conference  Thursday,  the political group said in times past citizens of Nimba  County have been ill-treated by state leaders, and as such,  they will no longer sit around the fence to allow unwarranted attacks on any single Nimbaian.

“This time around,  we will not again sit on the fence to allow any leader to ill-treat us like before”,  they warned.

The statement was read by Attorney Lawrence Tomah, Chairman of the group at the Mamadee Diakiaty Intellectual Forum in the St. Francis community in Paynesville, Sunday, February 5, 2023.

Reading the statement, Attorney Lawrence Tomah, Chairman of the group, called on the Weah’s government to launch an independent investigation into the matter with the involvement of the media, Civil Society Organizations as well as the International Community.

Atty. Tomah said if the government does not probe the matter to a logical conclusion then it suggests that the claim is true.

“An allegation that is not rebuffed and denied is deemed admitted, he added.

“Nimba for Gongloe” maintained that every Liberian has unhindered and unrestricted rights to associate and disassociate from any political affiliation guaranteed by the constitution of Liberia.

Chairman Lawrence pointed out that Sen. Prince Johnson’s withdrawal from the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) does not warrant any intimidation.

At the same time, “Nimba for Gongloe” has joined ranks with Sen. Johnson calling on the government to publish the “Turn Over Note” of the Unity Party’s led government.

The political group also condemned the recent  brutal attack on a peaceful citizen in Saclepea.

They alleged that the Chairman of the Liberty Party Paul Wehyee carryout the attack on Alfred Graie Wonleh for tearing down Mr. Musa Bility’s billboard.
