Monrovia- The Collaborating Football Stakeholders (CFS) founders, Cassell Anthony Kuoh and Chris Geeplay Weah will face off in a primary on September 7 to become the presidential nominee for the ticket ahead of the Liberia Football Association Elective Congress in 2026.
The CFS’s delegates comprised of opposition football stakeholders who are seeking change within the Liberian Football House. They will decide through a primary between Weah and Kuoh who becomes the presidential candidate to unseat current LFA president, Mustapha Raji.
“The decision to have this primary earlier is intended to establish a strong and unify the team for the 2026 FA election. When the decision is made on September 7, 2024, a joint press conference will be held to announce the team and the plan moving forward to the election,” the release said.
Accordingly, the release indicated after the candidate is known a subsequent engagement will be organized, which would allow stakeholders abroad to contribute to the collective agenda for the development of football in the country.
“The collaboration will also in that meeting set up a team of football stakeholders and technicians to come out with a football development plan for the collaboration,” the statement said.
Prior to the establishment of the collaboration, there was skepticism about whether the two men could work together due to claims and counter-claims of internal conflicts and differences between them.
But following an agreement, they set aside their personal differences and ambitions to lead the LFA, stating their decision to collaborate was for the “greater good of football.”
“This is not about who will head the LFA; it is about working together for a common goal. Kuoh and I understand this, and we are dedicated to working as a team to prevent the current president from seeking an unprecedented third term,” Weah said following the agreement.
He emphasized, “This collaboration is unprecedented in the history of Liberian football. We have never had a president attempt a third term. By coming together, we send a clear message: it is time for new leadership. If the current president chooses to run for a third term, he should know that this collaboration is a game over.”
Kuoh also commenting on the collaboration said teaming up with Weah demonstrates their willingness to transform Liberian football for the better.
“This team has the willingness to transform Liberian football for the better. I’m urging all stakeholders to get on board. As you can see, Chris Geeplay Weah and Cassell Kuoh are now part of the team. We are united and aiming to defeat the current administration in 2026,” he said.
