Monrovia – The Alternative National Congress’ (ANC) Social Welfare Department on Tuesday, September 17, donated assorted academic materials, valued at US$2,350, to six schools in District #9, Montserrado County.
Three institutions, which benefited from Books to upgrade their libraries, include Excellent Learning Academy, Love International School and SENOW Academy. Two schools, Matadi Community School and Mary Brownell Elementary School, of the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS) benefited from boxes of chalks and the Joy Foundation School got copy books, pens, pencils and sharpeners for its students.
Speaking on behalf of the party, Fubbi F. A. Henries, Acting Chairman of the Social Welfare, said that was the party’s way of reaching out to support the Education Sector in a small but meaningful way. For their parts, the schools’ administrators thanked the ANC for this venture and requested that said partnerships be built to ensure the future leaders are given the requisite education they need to help build Liberia.
All the school principals, proprietress and proprietors were overwhelmingly grateful and expressed joy that the donations were timely and will be used accordingly.
Most importantly, the proprietor of Love International School System, Mr. Mohammed Ware, Sr. expressed that, they have been providing their services regardless of the economic challenges and this was the first time for a political party to undertake such project towards the Education Sector.
“This is not common in our society,” he added. They also extended their gratitude to Mr. Alexander B. Cummings and the ANC.
Other members of the ANC’s Social Welfare Department, who took part in the donation included Daintowon Pay-bayee, Secretary General; Ruth Vogar, Ways, Means and Finance Officer; Richard Allen, Logistics Officer; Oretha Wesseh and Aminu Maikanti, members of Logistics; McDonald Gbasay, Patrick Kamara and Samuel Bloyoue.
