The award, presented on March 22, 2025, recognizes Cummings for his exceptional leadership both in Liberia and internationally. As an alumnus of Clark University and a former chair of its board, Cummings was honored for his steadfast commitment to leadership excellence and his contributions to positive change.
In a statement issued by the ANC, Chairman Lafayette E. O. Gould expressed the party’s immense pride in Cummings’ achievements. “We’ve always known the level of love and support our political leader carries, but it was clear to everyone during this award ceremony how much his work resonates beyond our party,” Gould said. “Cummings’ award isn’t just a personal victory; it’s a victory for all of us, his supporters, our party, and every Liberian who believes in the future we are working to create.”
The ANC also highlighted the emotional nature of the event, particularly when Mr. Cummings entered the hall to a standing ovation. “When the crowd cheered, especially during the Liberian song ‘Grateful’ by Deng, it was clear that the recognition of Cummings’ leadership goes beyond just his achievements. It was a celebration of Liberia’s potential,” said Gould.
Gould reflected on the importance of such moments for the country, expressing hope that all Liberians, regardless of political affiliation, would understand the significance of the event. “It was a proud, moving, and emotional event that showcased what is possible when Liberians come together to build a better future,” he said.
The ANC Chairman also commended Cummings for his global leadership, stating, “Cummings continues to show us what it means to lead with integrity and vision. We are proud of his achievements and excited for the future he is helping to shape, not just for the ANC, but for all of Liberia.”
