Monrovia – A visiting Guinean delegation has sympathized with the bereaved families and the Islamic community in Liberia for the loss of 28 Muslim Liberians. Most of the dead were children, who lost their lives to a tragic fire disaster on September 17, 2019.
The Minister for Islamic Affairs, Diamel Bangura, who was the head of delegates, extended condolence messages to the families of the victims on behalf of the President of Guinea, Prof. Alpha Condé.
Min. Bangura was accompanied by Minister Diane Keita, Cooperation and African Integration and Minister of Youth and Youth Employment, Mouctar Diallo.
Speaking at the fire scene with a help of a translator from French to English, the head of delegation, described the situation as painful. However, said it was Allah’s will that it happened.
“We are here today as direct representatives of the President Condé. We are here to sympathize with the families of those who lost their lives in this incident.
“The President of Guinea felt sad upon hearing the news of those children and extend his deepest condolences to the people who suffered from the incident and sympathizes with you.
“And he asks the families, and the community to take courage,” Min Bangura said.
The delegate also visited the John F. Kennedy Hospital to pay tribute the survivors from the incident.
At the hospital, Madam Keita thanked the Liberian government for this way it has handled the situation so far. She added: “May you all be blessed,” she said.
The delegates then presented a cash of US$30,000 to assist the families of the victims, who lost their lives, the survivors and elders of United Dawaumma Mosque on 17 street.
Receiving the delegate at the JFK hospital, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Varney Sirleaf welcomed his counterpart to the country.
Min. Sirleaf said with the Guinean government sending a delegation in the time of Liberia’s bereavement shows that Liberians and Guineans are the same people.
