Monrovia—A team from the FIFA Development Office for West and Central Africa is currently in Liberia to strengthen football development initiatives in the country.
The delegation, led by El Hadj Wack Diop, FIFA’s Regional Development Manager for West and Central Africa, and Nataniel Nascimento Brito, FIFA Project Manager for West Africa, is focused on assessing football infrastructure built by the Liberia Football Association (LFA) with support from FIFA’s Forward Program.
The team is also exploring new opportunities for sustainable football growth in Liberia.
On Tuesday, the FIFA officials visited the LFA headquarters and held discussions with LFA President Mustapha Raji and General Secretary Emmett Crayton. They then toured the George Weah Technical Center in Careysburg, a key training facility.
During their stay, the FIFA team will also inspect other significant football grounds, including the Blue Field pitch, which serves LFA’s grassroots programs, the Tusa Field, SKD Practice Pitch, and the Willie Knuckles field in Paynesville.
Additionally, the delegation will attend the semifinals of the U-20 WAFU A AFCON Qualifiers at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex (SKD).
This visit underscores FIFA’s commitment to supporting Liberia’s football development.
According to reports, the FIFA officials’ visit will help shape future projects aimed at strengthening Liberian football and nurturing young talent.
