Monrovia – In continuation of the Comprehensive Reform agenda of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry will on February 7, 2019 embark on an 18-day nation-wide tour beginning with the Southeastern region to familiarize themselves with critical educational issues relating to the following for prompt intervention and professional support that will upgrade and standardize the educational sectors in those parts of the country. Those issues concerned are:
The Tutorial Class Project or WASSCE intervention by MOE
The enforcement of regularizing permit and enforcement of renewal of the Operational permits
Addressing the plight of supplementary teachers
Listening to the Voluntary teachers to verify, authenticate and evaluate their claims
To inform the school system in those counties about projects and programs to shortly be implemented within their various localities through our educational partners and donors
Giving vivid explanation about the pending Modern Arm Chairs to be distributed to selected and accredited schools throughout the country for better learning environment and suitable seating capacity for all
To evaluate the full implementation of the Code of Conduct for teachers and school administrators as well as the Academic calendar
To listen to community dwellers, parents, teachers and the students regarding the implementation of the School Feeding Program
To inform all County Education Officers (CEOs), the District Education Officers (DEOs), and all school authorities about the forth coning of the Annual School Census
To inform the school administrators and the parents about the distribution of teaching and learning materials for Early Childhood Education (ECE), and construction of age appropriate urinals and toilets
To inform the community dwellers, parents and the school authorities about the stipend for Primary school teachers to teach over-age students in ECE for a smooth transition to Primary school and the training of community care-givers to monitor the process
To highlight the issues of In-Service and Pre-Service teachers, and reinforce accountability and transparency in the school system
This exercise will be conducted through February 24, 2019. Those counties to be visited are Sinoe, Grand Kru, Maryland, Grand Gedeh and River Gee. Additionally, the Minister of Education and team will also visit Nimba and Lofa counties for the same purpose mentioned above.
Finally, the Minister of Education Prof, D. Ansu Sonii, Sr. is calling on all concerned school authorities throughout the length and breadth of the country to kindly coordinate and collaborate with the team for the improvement of our education system.
