MONROVIA – Peter Gayflor Mulbah, the Country Director for Conservation International (CI)-Liberia has earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Public Policy and Administration with specialization in Policy Analysis from the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota (US).
Dr. Mulbah was among the over 6,000 students from around the world who graduated on January 29th during the University’s 66th Winter 2022 virtual Commencement. His doctorate research focused on The Impact of Conservation Agreements on Livelihoods and Forest Protection in Rural Liberia.
“My heartfelt thanks go to my family, professors and co-workers for the enormous support they provided as I worked on the PhD while still discharging my duties as the CI Liberia Country Director. Hard work and focus took me across the finishing line. I hope this can be an inspiration and encouragement to Liberians, especially the youth who are looking to enhance their education,” he said.
Walden University is a private online university headquartered in Minneapolis. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), one of six regional accrediting associations recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Apart from the PhD, Dr. Mulbah has four master’s degrees, including Master of Philosophy in Public Policy and Administration (Walden University, US); Master of Science in Project Management (Salford Business School, UK); Master of Arts in Environment, Development and Peace with a specialization in Climate Change Policy (United Nations Mandated University for Peace, Costa Rica); and Master of Public Health (Cuttington University, Liberia).
He also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry (University of Liberia), in addition to ten professional certificates from Liberia, United States, Egypt, Tunisia and Kenya.
Dr. Mulbah became CI Liberia Country Director in April 2020. He recently signed a Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with five Liberian Universities to provide internship and career development opportunities to Liberia youths pursuing environmental courses. The initiative is part of CI Liberia’s Young Conservation Leaders Program that seeks to empower young Liberian students to build successful careers in environmental conservation and management.
“I urge Liberian youth to search and seize opportunities to enhance their education and skills despite the many serious challenges they may be facing. Liberia is looking to them to move the country forward in terms of social and economic development. The sky is the limit for Liberians,” he said.
