    VP Howard-Taylor to Address the 2018 Inaugural African Women Summit for Peace and Development in Nigeria

    Monrovia, Liberia – Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor has accepted to serve as keynote speaker at this year’s Inaugural African Women Summit for Peace and Development scheduled for April 21, 2018, in Abuja Nigeria.

    This followed an official invitation by the Coalition of Wives of presidents and Vice presidents in Africa-COWAP, organizer of the summit to the Vice President.

    She would address the summit on the topic ‘The role of the Women as a catalyst for sustainable development leveraging on innovative technology’.

    VP Howard-Taylor, who is also expected to receive an award consistent with her campaign for the girl child, will share the speaking platform with the former President of Malawi Joyce Banda and the Director of Kenya Law school professor Plo Lumumba.

    The Liberian Vice President and delegation has since departed the country for Abuja, Nigeria for the pending event.

    The summit is a project which aims to harness the enormous capacity and goodwill of both sitting and past wives of Presidents and Vice Presidents in Africa towards the sustainable development goals in four thematic areas including peace and Justice, girl child education, ending extreme hunger and poverty.

    It seeks to engage past wives of Presidents and Vice Presidents in Africa as goodwill Ambassador for Africa’s Development, create a platform to engage with experts, academia policy makers, development practitioners and civil society on the role technology can play in driving development forward.

    The summit will be held under the theme, ‘Using Innovative Technology to solve Africa’s Development Challenges’.
