Monrovia – The Liberia Telecommunications Corporation (LIBTELCO) has expressed serious dismayed regarding the disconnection of its fiber optic installations by unscrupulous individuals for selfish reasons, which should be denounced in this 21st century that focuses on improvement rather than retrogression.
According to LIBTELCO Managing Director Richmond Nagbe Tobii, the untimely disconnection of the fiber optic cables affected connections in the Congo Town, Monrovia to the Robert International Airport (RIA), and Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County respectively.
The corporation has described the unwholesome act meted against its installations by detractors, which are costly, to be troubling, unpatriotic and an act aimed at retrogressing the progress LIBTELCO has made since its rebranding process, which has attracted customers from the public and private sectors in Liberia.
LIBTELCO has blamed Mutual Construction Company, a local company which is erecting sidewalks and drainages along the Congo Town Road within Monrovia for exposing its fiber optic cables.
According to the corporation’s MD, the failure of the company to exercise care in performing its duty has caused LIBTELCO fiber optic cables to be at risk, thus allowing unknown persons to carry on illegal disconnection which is unacceptable.
“We have engaged the Ministry of Public Works about the inconvenience Mutual Construction Company has caused our valued customers”.
However, the corporation’s Director for Operations, Saint –Wyndell Forte has disclosed that the corporation’s internet services have been restored in those areas which were affected due to the disconnection by the unknown individuals.
According to him, LIBTELCO’s employees commenced work immediately after they discovered that its fiber optic installations were disconnected and stolen.
“The matter is currently being investigated and as such, findings will be presented to the corporation’s MD for further action”, he added.
Meanwhile, the management of LIBTELCO apologized to its valued customers for the inconvenience the disconnection may have caused and also expresses thanks and appreciation to the customers for the level of understanding,
