Monrovia –The Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday was the scene of panic when fire gutted the third floor of the building.
Several employees and visitors in the building at the time of the fire flee in panic to avoid being trapped the flames.
The fire started in the office of the Assistant Minister for Commerce and Trade Services, Stephen Marvie, on the third floor and glowed through to the fourth of the building.
The building which is stone throw from the Liberia National Fire Service station was rescued by fire fighters.
Addressing journalists after bring the fire under control, the Deputy Director for Operation at the Liberia National Fire Service (LNFS), Alex Dickson said after noticing the heavy smoke they quickly rushed to the building to prevent the fire from escalating.
He said there was no human casualty.
“We are closer to the building and we saw the heavy smoke coming, but we were in time for this fire outbreak,” the LNFS Deputy Director for Operation said.
Dickson said the preliminary investigation into the cause of the fire points to electrical shock.
