Monrovia – A group of Mandingo citizens under the banner of the Mandingo Community of Liberia headed by Representative Sekou Kanneh of District #2 in Montserrado County has expressed profound appreciation and deep gratitude to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for her motherly kindness shown to former Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Amara Konneh .
According to an Executive Mansion release, the Mandingo citizens made the statement on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at President Sirleaf Foreign Ministry office when they paid a courtesy call on her.
“We have gathered here today on behalf of thousands of our fellow compatriots to simply say thank you Madam President for your kindness shown to our brother and your son Amara Konneh” Hon. Kanneh said.
Hon. Kanneh observed that in the Mandingo culture, “Thank You” is simply the greatest thing one can express to someone who has done something good for you. He said God Almighty (Allah) will bless President Sirleaf for all she has done for Amara Konneh and continues to do for Liberia.
The Lawmaker indicated that the only reason the Almighty God condemns a soul to hell is because of “Ingratitude”.
He pointed out that the Mandingo Community remains an extremely grateful people adding, “Madam President, we all know that, having being a part of the Mandingo culture, you are also a grateful woman, Rep. Konneh noted.
Responding, President Sirleaf thanked the Mandingo Community for showing appreciation to her but was quick to point out that former Finance and Development Minister Amara Konneh performed his duty so well, adding, “although he is gone for a while, I know he will return someday” she pointed out.
The delegation included Associate Justice; Kabineh Ja’neh, Deputy Internal Affairs Minister for Administration, Varney Sirleaf and the Deputy Chief Imam of Liberia Sheikh Ali Krayee, National Imam Council of Liberia, among others.
