Monrovia – Charles Taylor’s newly appointed spokesman, Isaiah Kamara Paye, has disclosed that his boss who is serving a 50-year sentence in a British cell for war crimes and crimes against humanity would be back in Liberia by the end of this year.

“President Taylor will return to this country this year by the grace of God. I want you to keep this recording; this recording will be played for the people of Liberia to know what God is about to do in this nation.
This will be one of the miraculous act that God will use to show to the people of this nation that He chose Charles Taylor.”
He made the disclosure on Okay FM, a local radio station in Monrovia Monday with his only reliance being the “grace” of God.
“President Taylor will return to this country this year by the grace of God. I want you to keep this recording; this recording will be played for the people of Liberia to know what God is about to do in this nation.
This will be one of the miraculous act that God will use to show to the people of this nation that He chose Charles Taylor,” Paye said confidently.
Paye who sounded quite religious said no amount of advocacies can free Taylor from jail, but the grace of God will set him free by the end of 2017.
“[The] one who God has chosen is chosen for life. Former President Taylor will return to this country this year by the grace of God,” he reiterated.
In November, the former President was alleged by United Nations Special Court for Sierra Leone, Alan White, to be meddling in Liberia’s politics and elections.
White disclosed that Taylor had been having conversation with George Weah at the time Weah’s party Congress for Democratic Change was forming coalition with Taylor’s National Patriotic Party (NPP) and ousted Speaker J. Alex Tyler’s Liberia People Democratic Party (LPDP).
“The allegations and sourced information that I’m receiving is that Charles Taylor, the former President – indicted and convicted war criminal for his actions in Sierra Leone and the leader of the RUF – is interfering with the elections,” White said.
White disclosed that Weah had been having discussions with Taylor on ensuring that there would never be a war crimes court established in Liberia.
“There are also other allegations that when he [Taylor] left, there were millions of dollars that were buried and left behind so whoever gets elected and they seek to get his sentenced reduced and to get him back in Liberia will be worth that while,” White further revealed.
Several months after White’s allegation, Weah corroborated the disclosure, admitting to speaking to Taylor on a cellphone.
At a recent press conference in Capitol offices, Weah said, “I Spoke to Taylor recently during one of our Coalition meetings.
“Someone who is close to President Taylor was on the phone in our midst and informed me that Taylor had requested to speak with me and I agreed.
“I picked up the phone and said Mr. President how you are? He was the President of the Republic of Liberia no matter what happens I must give him due courtesy and say hello.”
Senator Weah who has named Taylor’s ex-wife, Senator Jewel Howard Taylor as his running mate, averred that he would do the same for any other former President.
“Even if Ellen Johnson Sirleaf leaves office today and asks to speak to me, the best I can do is to say, Madam, how are you?
In January, in a move, likely to shake the wavelengths off the newly-minted Coalition for Democratic Change, former Liberian President Charles Ghankay Taylor instructed his supporters to return to their original base ahead of the 2017 presidential elections.
“So I am appealing to all of my friends to return to their base; the base? NPP grew out of the NPFL. Return to your base – and everything will be alright,” Taylor said during a phone call to his supporters during his birthday celebration here in Liberia on January 28. The phone conversation was on loud speaker.
“I am appealing to all of my friends to return to their base, the base? The NPP. The NPP grew out of the NPFL. Return to your base – and everything will be alright,” he said.
