Monrovia – The family of the late Super FM Journalist Tyron Brown has expressed frustration over the lack of information dissemination by authority of the police.
A communication by the family in possession of FPA says no update of information has been given the family since the arrest of Jonathan Williams and suspects who admitted to the gruesome murder of the journalist.
The family states, “We understand that they were taken to the Monrovia Central Prison, again with no information to us and we had to be running to see the alleged criminals being masqueraded and given preferential treatment. No update, no information has been given the family as a mark of respect for a true son of the soil.”
The bereaved family said while it is true that the police are clothed with the responsibility of handling the matters, it is the right of the deceased family to be treated justly and deservedly.
“It is yet to be told to the family of what the process was like,” states the communication.
The family says they are constrained to request the government to turn over the body of the deceased for burial, pointing to the fact that they have received a copy of the charge sheet marked Case#CSD-HQ-SIT-524-18.
The family said upon forensic examination of the deceased body, it was established that several lacerations were found ranging from locations on his back to the left side of his body directed to his heart.
“While we mourn the loss of our son from this barbaric and inhumane act inflicted on us by individuals who we believe their actions were coordinated and planned with a motive to murder this young and aspiring gentleman, we can for sure say that this was not a robbery or theft but plan homicide with reasons unknown.”
“We, the aggrieved family at this time express with sharp and deep dismay that since the visit of the Inspector General to our home on April 20, 2018, the family has been left out of whatever proceedings as there has been total lack of information.
“We have not been called by your office as we were promised to be updated every step of the way.”
Meanwhile, a criminal appearance bond has released five of the suspects in the deceased death.
The suspects spend at least two nights at the Monrovia Central Prison, upon which bond was filed at the Monrovia Magisterial Court.
Suspects Alice Youti, Edwina You, Caesar Kennedy, Joana Bracewell, Massa Kennedy were released on the bail following a bond from the Family Dollar Insurance Company.
Over US$15,000 was filed to secure their release from the central prison.
The criminal appearance bond dated April 24, 2018, is signed by the stipendiary magistrate Kennedy Peabody along with the general manager of the insurance company.
Seven suspects are charged by the Liberia National Police of which six were taken to the magisterial court.
Suspects Jonathan Williams was charged with murder; Alice Youti, Joana Bracewell, Edwina You were both charged with hindering law enforcement; Ernest Kermue and Caesar Bill Kennedy were charged with criminal facilitation to commit murder and hindering law enforcement.
Williams’ charge is non-billable so he will be behind bars till an indictment is done and further prosecution.
Furthermore, Police has not disclosed the whereabouts of suspect Kermue as the charge sheet said he is at-large.
At the same time sources at LNP has confirmed that Daniel Socree, who went on the scene when Williams stabbed the deceased, is expected to also be charged in absentia.
