nonprofit, has concluded a daylong training for over forty (40) Civil Society Organization members, including people living with disabilities in Kakata, Margibi County.
The CAMDL training which took place over the weekend, brought together forty Civil Society Organization members, including people living with disabilities, at the Kakata Intellectual Forum in Kakata, Margibi County.
The Executive Director of CAMDL, Taweh Johnson, giving the overview of the Media and Digital Literacy Training, said the training is meant to equip Civil Society Organization members in Margibi County with skills in using digital tools to verify online information and detect and counter false Artificial Intelligence content.
According to Johnson, the training has improved Civil society organization members’ and people with disabilities’ resilience to false information in Liberia.
He said the training has contributed to maintaining the integrity of the information landscape in Liberia.
According to CAMDL Executive Director, Taweh Johnson, the organization has extended its
impact to Margibi County because several trainings and initiatives have been done in
Montserrado and Bomi Counties, keeping in mind that citizens in other parts of Liberia need the skills and knowledge to counter false information in Liberia. In addition, Taweh Johnson has also called on international partners to kindly provide logistical support to the organization to reach other counties in Liberia.
In response, the participants commended Campaigners Against Misinformation and Disinformation in Liberia for the training and informed the organization that they are now empowered to counter
false information in Liberia and assured the organization that they would pass on the knowledge and skills to other members of their organizations.
TThe Campaign Against Misinformation and Disinformation in Liberia is a nonprofit organization with a vision to make citizens responsible promoters of reliable and credible information in Liberia, and its mission is to sustain peace by educating citizens on how to verify information before sharing it.
