Monrovia – Peach Bility, the son of Nimba County District #7 representative Musa Bility, was released from the Monrovia Central Prison on Monday after a Supreme Court intervention.

His release came after a writ of certiorari was filed by his defense lawyer, Cllr. Wilkins Wright, challenging a decision by Judge Blamo Dixon of Criminal Court ‘C’ to revoke Bility’s bond and return him to jail.
The case stemmed from a hearing on February 25, 2025, when Bility’s lawyer was absent, prompting Judge Dixon to view it as an attempt to delay the trial.
As a result, the judge unilaterally set aside Bility’s bond and remanded him to prison until his lawyer could appear. However, the absence of the lawyer was due to the lawyer’s unavailability, as he was out of the country.
On the following day, Bility retained Cllr. Wilkins Wright as additional counsel and filed a motion to reverse the decision. Cllr. Wright argued that the bond, which had been approved by Judge Dixon, had not been challenged by the prosecution, and there was no reason for Bility to remain incarcerated.
Despite the prosecution not opposing the motion, Judge Dixon denied the request, and Bility’s incarceration continued.
Cllr. Wright then filed a writ of certiorari, arguing that Bility’s continued imprisonment was unjustified, as the charges against him were bailable offenses and his bond had been properly approved. He further claimed that the decision to revoke the bond was arbitrary and prejudicial.
In a swift response, Supreme Court Chamber Justice Ceaineh Clinton-Johnson intervened, ordering the unconditional release of Peach Bility from the Monrovia Central Prison.
Justice Clinton-Johnson’s intervention came after reviewing the writ of certiorari filed by Cllr. Wright.
