Liberia: Court Issues Arrest Warrant for Cllr. Jappah
Paynesville – A senior Liberian lawyer is wanted by the court on alleged criminal charges of theft of property by deception and felonious restraint.
According to the Writ of Arrest from the Paynesville Magisterial Court, a copy of which is in the possession of FrontPageAfrica, Cllr. Aloysious T. Jappah is accused of allegedly influencing the private prosecutrix to purchase a car (Chevrolet 2014 Suv) from the USA and received US$4,950 since May 2022.
The Writ of Arrest further indicated that when the car was brought to Liberia, Cllr. Jappah allegedly took possession of the car and has since deprived her after receiving US$4,950 from her.
A Sheriff’s return indicated that Cllr. Jappah has allegedly resisted arrest and insulted the court’s Sheriff.
The Sheriff returns and states: “This Writ of arrest was served on defendant Aloysious T. Jappah at his residence, after serving him, he told us to get out of his porch and insulated us right in front of the Plaintiff and shut his door.
“We tried knocking again, so we could talk to him, but he refused and told us to get out.”
The court document further reads: “Since May 2022 at 10:00 AM on 24th Street, Sinkor, you the named defendant impressed on the mind of the private prosecutor to purchase a car (Chevrolet 2014 SUV) from the U.S.A. and received US$4,950. But to the dismay of the private prosecutrix, after said car was bought down to Liberia, you the defendant have refused to give the car despite making efforts but to no avail.”
It said the act the defendant did do and committed is in gross violation of statutes controlling the New Penal Law of Liberia.
