Monrovia — A Taiwanese philanthropist, Dr. Henry Huang, along with his friends from Taiwan, has donated a 2014 Toyota Landcruiser valued at US$25,000 to Partner Liberia Inc. to be used as an ambulance at the Oniyama Specialist & Teaching Hospital’s (OSTH) Health Center in the Tweh Farm Community on the Bushrod Island in Monrovia.
According to Mr. Joe Daweah, Jr., Country Director for Partner Liberia Inc., which operates the hospital, the donation was predicated on the unavailability or the delays of government-owned ambulances reaching health facilities in case of emergencies on the Bushrod Island.
Mr. Daweah further stated that such delays often result to death in traumatic cases.
“Dr. Huang visited OSTH when it was about to open in late 2017 and saw firsthand the many challenges faced with the Liberian health sector at the time and promised to help in the near future. He met with key stakeholders in the health sector at the time including Ministry of Health officials and members of the Liberia Medical & Dental Council,” Partner Liberia Country Director said.
The hospital is located in the, Tweh Farm Community on the Bushrod Island outside Monrovia. It is specialized in Internal and General medicines, Pediatrics, Respiratory care, Medical diagnostics, including full metabolic and blood gas, among others.
The OSTH Health Center has an excellent record for checking on its patients as to their wellbeing after they have been treated, have received positive testimonials from Several patients.
