Bopolu, Gbarpolu – As part of efforts to strengthen the health sector, the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Performance Based Financing (PBF) is conducting a two-day orientation for counties level stakeholders in Bopolu, Gbarpolu County.
The training workshop in Bopolu followed another training from Rivercess and Sinoe in which several health workers benefited immensely.
According to the Ministry of Health, the training workshop is intended to increase the understanding of health workers on the theoretical concepts of PBF’s implantations as a strategy for the health system.
Also, the training is centered on strengthening stakeholders’ practical issues including the implementing framework and determining performance information and reward system.
In remarks, the lead facilitator of the training workshop Madame Vera Mussah encouraged health workers to put smiles on their faces as they go about their health duties (saving lives).
Madam Mussah added that discussing the expected roles and responsibilities of various health stakeholders with references to the purchaser, contracting and verification mechanism is aims at sharing lessons learnt from other PBF experiences both national and international.
In furtherance, Gbarpolu County Health Officer (CHO) Dr. Musa Zuannah at the training called on health workers to stay away from negative propaganda that has the proclivity to undermine the work force of the health sector of Liberia.
Dr. Zuannah, however, admonished health workers to work hard to produce the needed health result to safe lives. He also calls on health workers to build what he called a resilient health sector.
Adding up, the World Health Organization (WHO) Representative in Gborpolu County Kelvin Bioma assured his institution’s unflinching support to the PBF and the Ministry of Health.
For his part, Superintend Keyeh Saah of Gbarpolu County expressed thanks and appreciation to the health workers of the county.
He also pledged his willingness in supporting programs of the PBF through the Ministry of Health.
In separate remarks, the participants praised the PBF for the training and asked for more training engagements to improving the skills of health workers in Liberia.
