Monrovia – Sando Kessellie Govego is making an emotional plea for urgent medical assistance to help save the life of his 19-year-old daughter, Yassah Govego, who is battling a severe and recurring skin disease that is increasingly threatening her health and wellbeing.
Mr. Govego explained that his daughter’s condition began when she was just ten years old, starting as small bumps on her skin. Over time, these bumps spread to other parts of her body, becoming increasingly painful and debilitating.
“We’ve followed every recommendation given by doctors, including surgeries and injections,” Mr. Govego said. “But the disease keeps coming back, each time more painful and aggressive than before.”
According to him, the skin condition—described as thick, dark, and rapidly spreading—has now affected areas around Yassah’s jaw, dangerously close to her esophagus, and has also spread to her chest. The condition has left the young woman in constant pain and significantly impacted her daily life.
Yassah, a high school graduate, said her deteriorating health is preventing her from pursuing her dreams and leading a normal life.
“The pain is too much. It’s getting worse every day,” she told FrontPage Africa. “It’s not only physical—it’s emotionally draining. I need help.”
Mr. Govego noted that despite the family’s best efforts, including covering several medical expenses locally, they are now financially overwhelmed. Doctors have recommended that Yassah be taken abroad for advanced treatment, which is beyond the family’s means.
“We’ve done all we can, but we cannot do this alone anymore,” he pleaded. “We’re not asking for physical cash—if someone or an organization can cover the cost and help take our daughter for treatment, we would be forever grateful.”
In a heartfelt appeal, Mr. Govego called on humanitarian organizations, charitable institutions, government officials, and kind-hearted individuals—both Liberians and foreign nationals—to come to their aid before the condition worsens further.
“If urgent help isn’t given, I fear what might happen. But I remain hopeful that someone out there will see our need and step in to help save my daughter’s life,” he added.
