MONROVIA – Foreign Minister Dee Maxwell Saah Kemayah has been admitted into the Humane Order of African Redemption with the Grade of Knight Grand Band.
Minister Kemayah was decorated with insignia by President George Weah who was assisted by his Foreign Advisor Ambassador George Wallace.
President Weah recounted and praised Minister Kemayah for his numerous roles and extraordinary performances in serving his country at home and abroad.
President Weah recalled the warmth interactions he had with Minister Kemayah before and during his ascendancy to the Presidency which he said crystalized his interest to call him to government.
President Weah disclosed that Minister Kemayah has exemplified commitment and diligence, while also describing him as someone who speaks truth to issues.
“You gained my confidence and I strongly believed you were the best person to represent us at the United Nations (UN). You went to the UN, worked diligently and brought pride to us. That allowed your succession as Foreign Minister of Liberia,” the President reflected.
“Today, what we are doing is the true manifestation of your service and I urge you to continue to do that by promoting the government’s policies and goals.”
The brief ceremony which was witnessed by key officials of the Foreign Ministry, the Kemayah family and many others subsequently saw the honoree performing his first and official investiture ceremony at the Cecil B. Dennis Hall at the Foreign Ministry with Two outgoing diplomats Ambassador Babatunde Ajisomo, Special Representative of the Presidents of ECOWAS Commission in Liberia and Dr. Kingsley Amaning, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations to Liberia.
At a well-attended program to recognize the services of the two foreign service men, the both diplomats were honored and decorated by President Weah and assisted by Foreign Minister Kemayah and admitted into the Humane Order of the Star of Africa with the Grade of Grand Commander.
Minister Kemayah is credited for actualizing President Weah’s promise to ensure a reduction in the price of Liberian passport in accordance with the Pro-poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development.
He has also been carrying out reforms at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in an attempt to regain the confidence its partners and stakeholders.
Prior to his ascendancy as Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Passport Division of the Ministry had consistently come under public rebuke for passport fraud and difficulties in getting a Liberian passport.
