MONROVIA – Unity Party standard bearer, Joseph Nyumah Boakai, cast his vote in the October 10, 2023, presidential and legislative elections at Catherine McGuire Catholic School in the Rehab community.
Boakai, who did not speak to local journalists after casting his vote, is aiming to unseat incumbent President George Weah of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).
The 78-year-old previously served as vice president under former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and was defeated by President Weah in the 2017 elections. There were reports that he did not have the support of Madam Sirleaf at the time, despite being her vice president for 12 years.
