MONROVIA – The Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice has issued a Writ of Arrest on controversial Representative Yekeh Kolubah and four others for alleged aggravated assault, criminal attempt to commit murder, kidnapping, criminal facilitation and solicitation.

The Writ of Arrest issued on the lawmaker and his alleged culprits was based on an indictment drawn by the Grand Jurors of Montserrado County for the alleged crimes.
He is yet to be arrested and brought before the Court.
Two days to the June 7 protest, an attempt to arrest the controversial lawmaker, an uncompromising critic of President George Weah and his government, failed after well-armed officers of the Liberia National Police surrounded his Old Road residence in District 10 early that morning.
The attempt was thwarted by residence of the District who flooded the residence of the lawmaker to prevent the arrest.
Rep. Kolubah was later escorted to the Police Headquarters by ECOWAS Commission Representative to Liberia, Mr. Babatunde Ajisomo and Rep. Edwin M. Snowe who is also a member of the ECOWAS Parliament. According to Reports, he was signed for by some members of the House of Representatives on the orders of the Speaker, Bhofal Chambers. A search and seizure writ was served on him that same day and Court Sheriffs spent over an hour searching his entire home thoroughly.
According to the police, six suspects were picked up on June 5, 2019, upon a distress call for victim Freeman who Police respondents met lying under a market table opposite Rep. Kolubah’s house naked, handcuffed, with wounds on his head and bruises on his body. The victim, who was allegedly tortured and flogged allegedly by Rep. Kolubah’s personal bodyguards in a bleeding condition, was immediately rushed to the John F. Kennedy Hospital for admittance and medical treatment.
Police preliminary investigation established that group of guys riding on board a white Nissan pick-up belonging to Suspect Yekeh Kolubah were seen distributing leaflets and T-Shirts relative to June 7 “Save the State” protest. It was further established that, victim Freeman got threatened by the suspects for refusing to receive said T-Shirts and leaflets on grounds that the financiers of the T-Shirts must be part of the protest along with their entire families, something which triggered them of coming after him at a cane juice shop owned by a lady only identified as Naomi.
Investigative findings coupled with evidence produced during police probe, the LNP charged the suspects with the commission of the crime terrorist threat, criminal facilitation, aggravated assault and felonious restraint have been forwarded to Court for trial.
