Liberia: Margaret Mona Koffa, Mother of Liberia Deputy Speaker Dies at 89 in the USA


It is announced from Ellicott City, Maryland, USA that Mrs. Margaret Mona Koffa, mother of Deputy Speaker Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa, passed away in the early evening of February 3, 2022.

Mrs Koffa is the daughter of former Buah District Commissioner, John Fannoh Karpeh and widow of the late Major General, Stephen Jaitoh Koffa of the Armed Forces of Liberia, who predeceased her in 2014.

She was a teacher in the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS) for more than 20 years.

She raised 5 successful children of her own including the current Deputy Speaker of the Republic of Liberia and others in professional life. She was also surrogate mother to many who passed through the MCSS especially at the Anna F. Whistnant Elementary School in the Barclay Training Center, for military children. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren when she passed peacefully. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
