Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County – A man, 40, has absconded from his family after his wife gave birth to three children at the government run hospital in Techien District, Grand Gedeh County.

Decontee Brown, 35, a resident of Bowien Quarter in Zwedru, and with her three children were then left stranded at Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital.
According to nurses assigned at the neonatal ward, Decontee gave birth on Monday, May 4.
The triplets add to the four children she already has. Her first two children are twins.
She told a reporter in Zwedru on Saturday that she was “helpless” after her husband, Joe Karpeh, escaped and abandoned her and the children when he got the news about the triplets.
“I do not know how to cope up with this challenge given; the other children I left them at home are also helpless. I am seeking a good Samaritan to come to my rescue,” she said, adding that she was solely depending on her husband who has now intentionally abandoned them.
“It is true that children are blessings from God, but I am deeply worrying about the care and support of my children and me”.
Decontee, however, lauded the efforts of nurses of the Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital and other individuals for their concerned and gesture towards her kids.
Massanjay Sheriff, a midwife assigned at the neonatal section of the hospital, told journalists that the babies are too small as they weigh 1 kilogram each and are now six days old.
She said the mother and the babies are in good health but they are being kept in an incubator.
“We are giving all support the babies need, but money is not enough to include the mother – we are calling upon people of goodwill to also come and support Decontee,” said the midwife.
Receiving a cash donation of L$10,000 from a resident in Zwedru city on behalf of the triplets mother, Dr. G. Bana Barquoi, Medical Director of the Martha Tubman Hospital, stressed that the woman needs a lot of support like food because she is breastfeeding mother.
