MONROVIA – Mr. Charles Sirleaf, son of ex-president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf who is also the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia for Operations has been arrested by the Liberia National Police in connection with several billions in local currency banknotes which cannot be accounted for by the Bank.
Mr. Sirleaf was picked up from the Central Bank Thursday evening while in a Board meeting, FPA gathered.
He was handcuffed and escorted by heavy security presence amid jubilation by residents close to the Central Bank.
He was arrested along with Mr. Dorbor Hagba, Director of Banking. The pair are currently at the headquarters of the Liberia National Police. Journalists and sympathisers are not being allowed into the premises of the Liberia National Police.
