The $54,000 project aims to transform the school into a high school, addressing the longstanding challenge for students who previously had to travel to Kakata City for secondary education.
The expansion will include a six-classroom annex, directly responding to the community’s calls for better educational infrastructure.
The project, expected to be completed within three to four months, will provide much-needed relief to students in the area who had faced difficulties in continuing their education due to financial and logistical barriers.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Senator Nuquay reaffirmed his commitment to his 2020 election pledge to upgrade Larkayta Public School. “Our younger generation is the future, and we must prioritize their education to secure a better tomorrow,” Nuquay said.
The Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment (LACE) is overseeing the implementation of the project. In addition, Senator Nuquay revealed plans to construct a new high school, Farmington Public High School, in the 26 Gate Community as part of broader educational initiatives in Margibi County.
Representative Emmanuel Yarh of Electoral District #4 praised the senator’s investment in the district, while local citizens expressed gratitude for the fulfillment of the senator’s promise.
Stakeholders in Larkayta Township are hopeful that the expansion will benefit both current and future students, contributing to a stronger educational system in the region.
