Monrovia – Residents of Konja Town, Garwula District, Grand Cape Mount County, have hailed the Senwah Foundation (SF) for constructing a new school building, rehabilitating the old structure, and enhancing facilities with a teacher annex, a reading room, and improved sanitation. They described the initiative as a significant boost to their children’s education and development.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Chief Varney Goe, Chairlady Asattu Johnson, Youth Chair Momo Darkel, and School Principal Laminu Alex Wise expressed gratitude to the foundation’s founder and Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Jassie Senwah Abasy, and Coordinator Mr. Mohammed T. Jeneka. They lauded the foundation for its efforts in revitalizing the learning environment and pledged to work closely with the school administration to ensure the sustainable growth of the Konja Town Public School.
Chief Goe, addressing the town’s elders and citizens, noted that the project, which also included providing new chairs, tables, and educational equipment, had transformed the school into a modern facility.
“We, as citizens of this town, will forever remember Mrs. Abasy and the Senwah Foundation for constructing and rehabilitating modern school buildings, providing good seating capacities, and equipping our school administrators and students with necessary tools. Despite none of the foundation members being from this town, they chose Konja Town to benefit from their resources after a thorough assessment. We are overjoyed by the completion of this project,” Chief Goe remarked.
A Commitment to Education
Mrs. Abasy revealed that the foundation, established in 2013 in memory of her late father, T. Albert Senwah, and her late aunt, Jassie O. Senwah, has been committed to promoting education and community development across Liberia.
“We came together as a family to give back to Liberia. We started in Cape Mount County, where we renovated schools, provided school equipment, sponsored teacher training, and extended support to other communities in Liberia. Over the years, we have also distributed toys to children and collaborated with other institutions in Montserrado County,” Mrs. Abasy said.
She disclosed that $15,000 was spent on the construction and rehabilitation work in Konja Town, adding that her foundation also provided meals to community members who assisted in the project alongside the engineers.
Community Collaboration Praised
Mrs. Abasy commended the people of Konja Town for their enthusiastic cooperation during the project. She expressed confidence in her team, including Coordinator Mohammed T. Jeneka, Board Chairman Deacon Jah Fahnbulleh, and Co-Chairman Sesay T. Johnson, for their diligence and commitment to the foundation’s goals.
“We are proud of the progress made and remain committed to improving educational opportunities and supporting communities across Liberia,” she said.
The residents of Konja Town expressed hope that the newly enhanced facilities would inspire their children to excel academically and vowed to safeguard the investment for future generations.
