Monrovia – In a ceremony marked by optimism and commitment, Dr. Jonathan Minagogo Hart was inaugurated as the new president of The Salvation Army Polytechnic University, overseeing the institution’s branches in Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea.
His appointment follows the leadership of Dr. Emmanuel Urey Yarkpawolo, whose tenure was recognized for significant contributions to the university.
Dr. Hart, in his inaugural address, expressed profound gratitude to the University Board Chair Lieutenant-Colonel Luka Khayumbi, Territorial Commander of The Salvation Army Liberia, Sierra Leone & Guinea Command, and acknowledged the groundwork laid by Dr. Yarkpawolo.
“I greet you all with the love of Christ,” Dr. Hart stated, underlining his commitment to the core values of patriotism, integrity, and justice.
He outlined a clear vision for the university, emphasizing the expansion and strengthening of academic programs.
New initiatives include the introduction of degrees such as BSc in Physician Assistant and BSc in Operation Room Technology, along with certifications in Solar/Renewable Energy and Anesthesia Technology.
Dr. Hart also highlighted plans to advance the accreditation of existing programs and form strategic partnerships with government and non-governmental organizations.
“Our goal is to foster a learning environment where students can fully realize their potential and gain a deep understanding of their surroundings,” Dr. Hart explained.
He also pledged to enhance the campus infrastructure, create a discrimination-free community, and integrate modern teaching tools and technologies.
The Salvation Army Polytechnic University President reaffirmed his dedication to maintaining the highest academic standards and emphasized that any form of malpractice, including corruption and exploitation, would be met with strict disciplinary measures.
“We will accept nothing less than excellence in performance from everyone within our institution,” he declared.
As Dr. Hart takes the helm, the university looks forward to a renewed focus on educational excellence and community engagement under his leadership.
