Monrovia—A woman identified as Jennies Quarthy has narrowly escaped death in a harrowing incident a after a brutal attack on her home by armed robbers in Monrovia.

The incident occurred at 2:10 AM on July 14, 2024, at Ms. Quarthy’s residence on 15th Street Sinkor in Monrovia.
The criminals reportedly broke into Ms. Quarthy’s home and made away with several of her belongings.
According to Ms. Quarthy, upon realizing that she had identified the alleged armed robbers by face, they viciously attacked her, leaving her with life-threatening injuries on her hand and head.
The victim (Ms. Quarthy) is currently receiving treatment in the trauma unit at JFK Medical Center, where her condition remains critical.
This incident is part of a worrying trend of armed robberies in Liberia, where violent crime continues to be a significant concern. Armed robberies not only result in the loss of property but also place victims’ lives at severe risk, creating a pervasive atmosphere of fear and insecurity within communities.
Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police (LNP) have launched an investigation into the attack on Ms. Quarthy and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward. At the same time, police authorities in Monrovia are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help curb the tide of violent crime
