According to reports from the county, a 20-year-old woman narrowly escaped some unknown men who extracted blood from her with a syringe and also injected her with an unknown substance using the same syringe.
The incident occurred on August 4, 2017.
The victim Princess Garblah escaped being kidnapped by the men while she and her mother were on their way from Tubmanburg to Small Bopolu where they live.
Small Bopolu is three hours walk away from Tubmanburg but a motorcycle may take about 45 minutes to get there.
The alleged kidnap incidents occurred around the Pump Station Community, an hour walk away from Small Bopolu.
Speaking to FrontPageAfrica, Princess said, while attempting to ease herself two unidentified men pounced on her with a syringe injecting her and extracting her blood.
“Me and my ma [mother] were going to the village from Tubmanburg when I told her that I wanted to use the toilet. When I entered the bush, I saw two men standing far from each other, the man with the long bag jumped on me and we started fighting, while fighting he called his friend who held me by my blouse and he injected me with the sharp injection needle and started taking my blood. I was shouting for people to come around but only me and my ma were in the area.”
“My ma heard me yelling when she ran in our direction, but before she could come around they already left me because of the way I held the other one tightly by his private part,” she explained.
Princess said she managed to escape from the two individuals after a hard fight for her life before her mother arrived at the scene.
The victim disclosed that she went unconscious upon the arrival of her mother on the scene.
“Soon they left me I fainted and I did not know anything that happened again, but my mother said it was one of my uncles who was also going to the village that saw us and called the ambulance from the Bomi Government Hospital where I got my treatment,” she told FrontPageAfrica.
She further explained that doctors at the hospital confirmed to her parents that blood was extracted from her body by a sharp instrument.
“When we went to the hospital the doctor told us that small blood was taken from my back.”
Princess also noted that since she was injected by the men, she continue to feel pains in her body mainly her back where she was injected.
“I can always feel pain all over my body, but my neck can hurt me too much.”
“It never used to happen to me like that but since this thing happened to me I’m always feeling pains, my stomach can be pinching me too,” she noted.
However, the victim’s mother disclosed that since the incident, no one has come to their aid as the victim faces constant pains in her stomach as the result of the fight.
Madam Thellor Garblah indicated that her child’s condition requires serious medical attention, saying, she does not know what might happen to her child in the nearby future.
“I don’t know where they carried my daughter blood and I don’t know what will happen to in the shortest future, maybe she will get sick, or maybe she will die, I don’t know, I am worried,” she said.
She is calling on the county authorities, government officials and humanitarians across Liberia to come to the aid of her child who needs medical attention.
Madam Garblah wants advanced medical treatment for Princess, especially so when they don’t know what substance was injected into her.
“I can’t speak good English but I want my daughter to do her x-ray so we can know what happened to her. I want government to come to our rescue by carrying my daughter to good hospital,” she said.
Princess’ incident has grabbed the attention of citizens of the county with residents now warning each other not walk alone at night or day.
FrontPageAfrica’s visit to Small Bopolu observed that many young people in the area were walking in pair with cutlasses or knives in their hands and on their sides.
Motorcyclists who seem to be vulnerable in the county are also on the alert as they, too are not taking the situation lightly.
Moses Zinnah Freeman, a commercial motorcyclist said he is worried about what is unfolding situation in the county.
“We are afraid but it can’t stop us from running our bikes, we will continue run and we will do everything we can to protect ourselves even if government don’t provide us protection,” he said.
Police in the county confirmed the incident but remain tightlipped on the issue as they referred FPA to Police headquarters for the Police position on the issue.
Bomi County Senator Sando Johnson when contacted to give his position on the incident said he was unaware of the situation.
