Buchanan – Over 400 school kids in the five electoral districts of Grand Bassa County on Monday, September 16 received assaulted school materials from the Friends of Charles P. Vah.
Friends of Charles P. Vah is a group established in 2018 to help needy people within the county and other parts of the country.
G. Power Williams, Coordinator of the charity group, told FrontPage Africa that the distribution of the assaulted school items was meant to help needy pupils in the county.
More than 400 students from across the county received these materials, Williams said.
Gorblee Elementary School, Harlandville Public school, Benson River Public School, Gio town public School are amongst several of the schools.
“We visited all of the districts of Grand Bassa County and distributed dozens of copy books, pencils and pens to several needed students in our County,” he said.
“We spent over L$169,000 to get those items that were donated and Mr. Charles P. Vah sponsored us because of the love for his people”.
He said that the donation was first of its kind and that many of the “students highly appreciated” the gesture of the group.
“Mr. Charles P. Vah who sponsored us is a son of Grand Bassa who wants to see the lives of the people moving to a bigger and greater level through education,” he said.
“Look, if our young boys and girls who are the future leaders get quality education, Liberia will be a better place to be years to come.”
Miller Doe, a 4th grade student of Hardlansville Public School, thanked the group for its support.
She said: “I happy that those people came with copy books and pens because I was really in need of more copy books and pens. I want to say thanks to Mr. Charles P. Vah for sponsoring the project. Donating to us shows love and it’s my hope that it continues every year”.
Sandra Kollie, another beneficiary of the Benson River Public school, explained how she started school with a single copy book due to her mother’s illness and she was thankful for school materials given her.
“I was happy when I saw the team of men entering our class to distribute copy books, pencils and pen. I thought it was for certain group of people but when I got mine, I was so happy,” she said.
“I want to say thanks to the people for this help and I am going to use the pen and copy books to learn so I can help my family in the future.”
