Harper, Maryland County – The Liberian National Police Maryland detachment has arrested suspected drugs peddlers and users during an early morning raid of ghettos in Harper City, Maryland County and its environs.
LNP CSD Commander in Maryland County says about 15 suspected drugs addicts from several communities including Old Kru Town, Water Street, Printy Street, and the notorious Hoffman station were arrested.
According to Fredrick Smith, in the aftermath of Tuesday’s raid, huge quantities of narcotic substances with street value yet to be disclosed were seized.
The alleged drug addicts are currently detained at the Harper Central Prison awaiting the necessary process to be arraigned in court for trial.
Those arrested are: James Tweh, Dumie Adama, Junior Toe, Edwin Toe, Charles Scott, Victor Wallace and Joseph Tukloh. Others are Edina Siaffa, Martin Prowd, Randolph Hodge, Cornelius Dennis, Charles Bedell, Joseph James, Solo Playee and Kelvin Youoh.
Commander Smith has meanwhile indicated that the raid will extend to other parts of Maryland County and called on citizens to assist the Police in locating criminal hideouts in their respective communities.
He emphasized that the LNP in Maryland will not relent in arresting anyone involved in drugs abuse indicating that “such behavior leads to destruction of lives and properties”.
It can be recalled that huge quantities of marijuana value over 145,000 Liberian dollars was arrested in the Barrobo Statutory District belt less than a month ago by the Drugs Enforcement Agency (DEA), with the aid of the Liberia National Police Pleebo Detachment.
Six arrested on criminal offences
The Police has also sent to the Harper Magisterial Court 6 persons for alleged burglary, theft of property, criminal facilitation, criminal trespass, and criminal mischief.
The 6 persons were arrested in the New Kru Town community in Harper City on Friday June 10, 2016 at 12 mid night after they broke into the Good Will Business Center in the community.
Those arrested by the Police and the New Kru Town community Watch forum are notorious Chris Harris aka Diagbeh age 22, Hanson George, Benjamin Wisner, Anthony Erskine, Solomon Youweh and Newton Doe.
According to Emmanuel Johnson, agent of Novafone Liberia, and Manager of the Good Will Business Center the guys made away with one Nokia phone black in color, one Lone star ZTE-C7 yellow color, one ZTE white phone, one Sony Experia color white, 2 Itel phones black and orange, 10 touch phones, 1 DVD all for customers, US$500.00, LD$30,000.00, and 6 packs of scratch cards value US$288.00.
They are also reminded at the Harper Central Prison awaiting court trial, but a close source to the court told this paper that the accused will appear before the court on Monday June 20, 2016 and will be given their constitutional rights and to also know the reason while they have been arraigned before the court.
