At an appreciation program in honor of citizens of Nimba District #6 over the weekend in Tappita, Representative Gleekia called on his onetime political nemesis and the people to work together and move the district forward.
“Our common symbol of kinship and togetherness must continue to exist in Tappita because this, our motherland is our community denominator. Every citizen residing in Tappita City hailing from Gbi and Doru, Doe and Yarwein Mehnsonnoh Districts have got a big fish to fry in what we have. And Tappita business is their business. There should be no segregation among districts and ethnic lines where people will say you from district six or nine. We are all from Tappita. The people of Gbi and Doru as well as the people of Doe Chiefdom are from District #6 originally. And most importantly have the DNA of Tappita running through their veins,” he asserted.
The Nimba District Lawmaker, who chairs the House Standing Committee on Peace and Reconciliation vowed to “work with Hon. Johnson Gwaikolo (neighboring District #9 Rep) in ensuring that we form a common developmental agenda for our people in both Districts six and nine.”
He thanked his constituents for electing him and urged them to champion a new sense of patriotism, hard work and dedication where everyone will play an active role in the development process of the district.
Also speaking at the occasion was Nimba District Nine Rep. Johnson Gwaikolo, who called for total collaboration among the Legislative Caucus of Nimba to fully discharge their duties.
“It is good for us to go from districts to district to see what we are doing there. That way we will support one another. Nimba County is endowed not only with human resources but natural resources as well. So, we now as administrators and as citizens, we must collaborate, cooperate and coordinate. We need to follow these principles so that we can get the best of what we have in Nimba County,” he noted.
For his part, Representative Roger Domah (Nimba District Seven) called on the young people of the county to use the community radio stations to project the positive image of the county.
“Radio stations are meant to project the good image of our society. We want you to use the radio stations positively to project the developmental agenda of Hon. Gleekia and the people of District Six. I hope the problem of using the radio to denigrate people and to tear people apart will slow down. Let use our radio stations for positive reasons,” he urged.
