According to reports from Grand Gedeh, Rep. Grant had gone to Zleh Town, where one of the zoes resides to confront him about some work related issues. According to some residents, a longtime misunderstanding between the Grand Gedeh District #3 lawmaker and Chief Borkay might have rekindled.
Borkay, who is one of the zoes from the county, worked as a former staff in the office of the lawmaker. He was dismissed for administrative reasons according to the lawmaker. But at an event, Borkay traditionally demanded an open apology from Grant.
Grant, according to reports, felt belittled and walked out of the meeting. He allegedly threatened to use his power against Chief Borkay, who he claimed disrespected him. The reports also detailed that the lawmaker then ordered youths, who had accompanied him to the town, to disrupt the meeting. In the process, Chief Borkay and his entourage were allegedly flogged.
In response to the allegation, Rep. Grant told FrontPageAfrica that Chief Borkay, a traditional mask-dancer, had insisted that he be included in the traditional dance program organized by him (Grant). The lawmaker further stated that because he refused, Chief Borkay got angry and kicked a bucket, which was seated before the other elders and walked away.
“He was angry why I didn’t invite him because he is the biggest mask dancer. He stopped others from dancing. He kicked the bucket and ran away. I had nothing to do with it. Whatever happened to him, was between him and the traditional leaders. “His supporters hurt people and one of them is under arrest. He worked with me as my administrative assistant. While in my officer, he took a loan from a local business and refused to pay back so I replaced him with someone who could collect the money and pay the business back their money. Since than he has been insulting me and saying all sorts of nasty things about me. He is a fabricated liar.”
