Margibi County – The Margibi Women Organization (MarWO) has issued a strong condemnation following the arrest of Nigerian pastor Apostle Ernest C. Ihejiemeonu, founder of Light of God International Incorporated & Deliverance Ministries, on charges of bigamy, menacing, felonious restraint, simple assault, and disorderly conduct.

The arrest follows a complaint filed by Ihejiemeonu’s wife, Favor Ihejiemeonu, who claims her husband married a second woman while still legally married to her. She further alleges that he restricted her access to their home, subjected her to physical abuse, and humiliated her in public.
In a statement released on Wednesday in Kakata, Alice Korpo Bombo, Executive Officer of MarWO, condemned the pastor’s actions, calling for an end to practices that undermine women’s rights.
“We strongly condemn bigamy and any actions that suppress the development and safety of women,” said Bombo.
The organization also called for coordinated efforts from the Margibi County Superintendent and local women’s groups to raise awareness about violence against women.
“This disturbing incident, which occurred on March 16, 2025, involving Pastor Ihejiemeonu, underscores the urgent need to address issues surrounding women’s rights and safety in our community,” Bombo added.
MarWO reiterated its commitment to supporting women affected by violence, both in their homes and workplaces, and called for religious, political, and social leaders in Margibi County to take a firm stand against all forms of violence against women.
Following his arrest, Ihejiemeonu was released on bail, while several church members involved in the incident remain detained at Kakata Central Prison. MarWO is seeking clarification from the local court regarding this decision and continues to advocate for justice.
“We encourage all women to stay calm as we pursue justice and work to ensure that our society remains committed to ending violence against women,” Bombo added.
