Gbarpolu – Authority of Gbarpolu County has come under pressure to provide
Report by Willie N. Tokpah, [email protected]
“The county’s District #1 lawmaker, Rep. Alfred G. Koiwood, said authority of the county recently noted in their county sitting that the amount was given to the institution, something he said is far from reality,” Rep. Koiwood said.
Rep. Koiwood told FrontPageAfrica that his personal inquiry from the administration of the Gbarpolu Professional School of Driving proofs that said amount has not been received as claimed by the county authority.
As a result, he wants the Project Management Committee Chair, Sam Zinnah, to be probed.
Koiwood expressed disappointment in the county authority for stated ‘falsehood’ against students whom according to him are striving to obtain professional driving skills.
“Do they know how much is used by this school administration for stationeries or how much we paid for cars parts? Or other major problems the car we used for this driving faced during the course of our training?” Koiwood questioned.
He called on authority of Gbarpolu County to give account of the amount, saying the driving school established by him has not received any money from authority of Gbarpolu County.
“There is need that officials of Gbarpolu tell the public what was done with the L$400,000. The Gbarpolu County Professional School of Driving has been operating on its own and has not received any money as claimed by the county authority,” Koiwood said.
“We need that amount because the county authority has made the public to believe that my school received money from the county and I don’t want those managing it to know.”
According to him, the situation associated with the disappearance of the L$400,000 Scholarship fund indicates that authority of the county had been involved with some financial malpractice.
He said such act should be discouraged by kinsmen of Gbarpolu County and will not be tolerated by the current government.
Rep. Koiwood has at the same time called for a financial audit of Gbarpolu County administration.
Meanwhile, authorities of Gbarpolu County are yet to respond to the allegation, following text messages to the mobile phone number of the Project Management Committee Chair Sam Zinnah and the Assistant Superintendent for Development Joseph Akoi.
Both Zinnah and Akoi Lonestar and Orange numbers had been switched off since Thursday, February 20, 2018 up to press time.
