In a recent show of solidarity, a large group of citizens from Gbannah gathered to formally endorse Gongloe-Weh for the upcoming by-election. The citizens of the town pledged their unwavering support, emphasizing that she was the right candidate to fill the void left by the late Senator Prince Johnson.
“We have gathered here today to empower you, Madam Edith Gongloe-Weh, as our only hope and supportive senatorial candidate for the pending by-election. We don’t want you to let us down. Go ahead and contest; we are willing to support you with our cash, vehicles, and any other materials you may require,” said Ramphel Dolo, chairman of the Garr Clan, in his remarks to the crowd.
The citizens’ endorsement was not limited to verbal support; they also presented a substantial cash donation to Google-Weh as part of their efforts to assist her campaign.
The donation was presented in Garr Zuluyee Town, located along the Ganta-Sanniquellie Highway.
According to the leadership of Garr Clan, including Chairlady Catherine Yini and Executive Member Godwin Bestman, the cash donation was a means to empower Google-Wehyee to carry out her campaign activities effectively. They highlighted that their support was based on her commitment to unity, women’s empowerment, and job creation for the people of Nimba County.
“The decision to support Edith Gongloe-Weh was not based on any external influence, but rather the will of the people,” Dolo explained. “We believe she is the best candidate to replace the late Senator Prince Johnson, and we are proud to stand behind her.”
Gongloe-Weh, who has contested three previous senatorial elections and lost, expressed her gratitude for the support. “I want to thank the citizens of Garr Clan for believing in me and for their generous contribution,” she said. “I pledge to be a leader who will listen to the needs of the people and works to bring positive change to Nimba County.”
Gongloe-Weh, who is seeking to make history as Nimba’s first female senator, emphasized her commitment to promoting unity and empowering women in leadership positions. “My vision is to bring about change in Nimba County and Liberia as a whole. If elected, I will work to introduce legislation that benefits our county and our country,” she said.
Several women’s and youth groups in Nimba County have also thrown their support behind Gongloe-Weh, citing her education, leadership experience, and dedication to serving the people. “We support Edith because of her past leadership as Superintendent and her ongoing commitment to the county. She is the right person to lead Nimba,” said spokesperson Ernest W.G. Corpee, along with advisor Aaron Yorway and elder Paye Samah.
The endorsement from Gbannah’s citizens came after years of Gongloe-Weh’s unwavering dedication to public service.
Despite not securing a win in previous elections, her supporters remain confident that she is the candidate who can best serve Nimba County’s interests in the Senate.
“This woman has faced challenges in past elections, but we are committed to supporting her dream of replacing the late Senator Prince Johnson,” said Corpee. “We believe in her leadership abilities, and we will stand by her through this election.”
Google-Wehyee’s bid to become Nimba County’s senator has gained significant momentum, with endorsements pouring in from across the county. As she prepares for the by-election, her supporters are hopeful that this will be the election where her leadership aspirations are realized.
“I will be an example of good leadership that the people of Nimba can be proud of,” Gongloe-Weh promised in response to her supporters’ confidence. “Together, we will bring positive change to our county and our country.”
