
Bangorma Town, Tewor District – The Leadership and Citizens of Bangorma Town, Mendemassa, Clan Tewor District in Grand Cape Mount County through their Representatives Imam Abdullai Massaley and Mr. Saidu Swaray, have announced that they have resolved to settle their internal dispute to foster peace, unity and development.
The residents have been involved in a misunderstanding concerning an MOU signed on June 19, 2024; between the Bangorma Community and the Bea Mountain Mining Company.
To settle their dispute, the residents of Bangorma have been holding a series of meetings and consultations.
In a statement released following the last meeting, the citizens said they have recognized their differences as people and leaders of Bangorma Town and have resolved to work together for the general good of their community.
They expressed an open apology to their lawmaker Rep. Gbessay Sonii Feikai of District Number Three Grand Cape Mount County and encouraged her to continue the good work she started for the people of District Number Three including Bangorma.
The citizens also apologized to Imam Abdulai G. Massaley, well respected and Religious Cleric for misunderstanding his intentions and reacting to him in ways that were not called for.
Addressing the company, they said: “We would like to encourage the Bea Mountain Family to disregard all that has happened and transpired within the past few days or weeks within the Leadership circle of Bangorma and to continue our cordial collaborating relationships that existed amongst us before the conflict.”
They added: “Lastly, we would like to thank all citizens of Bangorma Town for their tolerance and encourage them to support this new Peacebuilding and Reconciliation efforts that have been achieved.”
