Tappita, Nimba County – Presidential hopeful, Mr. Alexander Cummings used the celebration of Liberia’s 169th Independence anniversary to identify with residents of Tappita, Nimba County Tuesday.
Speaking during local ceremonies organized by authorities of Tappita, Mr. Cummings lamented that he was glad to be back in Nimba and thanked residents for the warm reception.
Mr. Cummings who is the political leader of the Alternative National Congress (ANC) then toured facilities of his late father including the S.D. Cummings School in Tappita.
The former CocaCola executive then went on to commission a market project newly constructed by the Cummings Africa Foundation.
Accompanying the Political Leader was an entourage of ANC executives headed by political operative Mr. Lafayette Gould who many credit with establishment of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC).
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Cummings said he was glad to be among his people and thought the project he commissioned was long overdue.
The Presidential hopeful went on to take the kick-off between football matches organized by members of the ANC local chapter between District# 9 and District #6 consisting of the Tappita and Gbee districts.
The party officials were seen distributing toys for the kids of the area and climaxed the occasion with a mass dinner following the football match.
Speaking to reports, Mary Gonkerwon expressed her gratitude for a son to return and bring gifts for the old and young. She said the residents of Tappita were extremely happy to have a man of Mr. Cummings’ standing in the society spend 26 with them.
