Kakata, Margibi County – Residents of Korr-Ta village located in Section#4, Wea Clan, District#4 are appealing for assistance from the Liberian government, the Liberia National Red Cross Society, their District Representative, Ben A. Fofana, and other philanthropist organizations for help.
The residents of Korr-Ta appeal comes in the wake of a fire incident that leftover ten houses burning to the ground on Wednesday, February 13, 2019.
The incident left over 9 rice hut (kitchen) burn without being able to take any of it from the raging fire which took place about 2:00 P.M on that Wednesday.
Speaking in an interview with the Liberia News Agency today, the General Town Chief, Binda Sackie said circumstances that led to the houses gutted with fire is not yet known as local government is still carrying out a thorough investigation into the situation.
“All of our rice kitchens got burned flat to the ground and as a result, we are now left with no food at all to sustain ourselves in the coming days and therefore, appealing to all goodwill individuals to please help us in the wake of our ordeal”, Town Chief Binda Sackie lamented.
Town Chief Binda said on Wednesday, they all left the village to commence the under brushing for a new rice farm for this year only to get of information on fire burning down their houses including their rice kitchen.
“We are in dire need of help as if nothing is done now, the coming days will be very tough on families in the town as we will have no rice to plant for this year”, Town Chief Sackie further stated.
Meanwhile, Margibi County Superintendent has expressed serious concern about the fire incident that led to the burning of several houses including rice kitchen in Korr-Ta.
Superintendent Jerry Varnie said it is very troubling a news especially when citizens are gearing up for the upcoming farming season in their respective communities.
He said his office was quickly looking studying the situation so as to adequately address it so as to avoid the people being stricken by hunger.
There was however no human casualty reports during the fire incident in Korr- Ta.
