Abuja, Nigeria – The Abuja version of ‘The Unveiling of Kanvee Adams’ takes place on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton Intercontinental Hotel.
As a sequel to the Abuja event, High Chief Raymond A. A. Dokpesi on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 led a high-power delegation to the Liberian Embassy in Abuja, a release from the Embassy says.
The release recalls the successful and very colourful Lagos version which held on Monday, May 13, 2019, where the Liberian Gospel Superstar’s inspirational performance and response to the media and other invited guests was carried live globally on the Digital Satellite Television (DSTV).
High Chief Dokpesi, an influential Nigerian businessman highly regarded as the country’s media guru, is the chief sponsor of Ambassador Kanvee Adams’ Nigerian partnership deal sealed few days ago.
He is the founder and Chairman Emeritus of DAAR Communications, of which the DAAR Music Global is a subsidiary.
According to the release, High Chief Dokpesi, in audience with Ambassador Al-Hassan Conteh, firstly extended an invitation to the Ambassador and his diplomatic staff as well as the Liberian Community in Abuja to grace the occasion of the Abuja version of the ‘Unveiling of Kanvee Adams’.
“Your Excellency, I didn’t think it would have been enough to just send you these invitations for you, your staff and the Liberian Community, but to also come in person to appreciate your country through you for such a rare talent in Kanvee Adams. I came to tell you about the very beautiful talent that I discovered from your country who I think uniquely represents that voice that can be an ambassador for our African Cultural heritage and beyond”, he exclaimed.
Chief Dokpesi then narrated how he encountered the iconic Liberian Gospel Superstar as follows:
“Your Excellency, I was in Dubai for a medical treatment. Whilst in Dubai, after my surgery, I opened my phone and the very first message I saw was a video. And I thought that video on my phone was about some developments from Nigeria. But when I clicked on it, it was just purely music. And then I heard the voice. But then I stopped it and thought to check some other, maybe urgent messages on my phone. But the voice was so captivating that I couldn’t even concentrate on the other messages. So I said, ‘ok then let me listen to this music’. And it was so inspirational that I wasted no time getting in touch with my Ray Power team, the radio arm and the television arm, AIT.”
He continued, “Then I asked myself, who’s this artist? The lyrics are so, so apt to contemporary challenges that we have in Nigeria and elsewhere. A lot of people, growing up, forget so easily about where they are coming from. I actually thought she came from the Eastern part of Nigeria. I didn’t know her name, I had no idea of who she was, but all I know is that this was such a budding talent that needed to be nurtured and supported. But my inquiry team came back to me to say that she is from Liberia. And that’s where we find ourselves today, going forth.”
In response, Ambassador Conteh, on behalf on President George Manneh Weah and the Liberian people, applauded High Chief Dokpesi for his ‘non-discriminatory’ nature that led him to be fully supporting a Liberian Gospel musician.
“But this is no surprise to me at all. That is because all along I have known you to be an ‘Afro-centric’ Nigerian, whose media institutions exhibit throughout on your television and even radio stations. But yes, we are very appreciative of this very fine gesture coming from you”, Ambassador Conteh added.
The brief interactive meeting was also attended by the Minister Counselor for Press and Public Affairs, Mr. Nat Bayjay, and the Counselor/Consul, Mrs. Beatrice N. Sherman of the Liberian Embassy and a team of reporters and producers from the DAAR Communications’ Africa Independent Television (AIT) and Ray FM, Abuja who formed part of High Chief Dokpesi’s delegation to the Liberian Embassy, the release adds.
The release recalls that over the weekend, the giant Nigerian musical company, DAAR Music Global Limited, signed Liberia’s Gospel musical superstar Ambassador Kanvee Adams on a mega five-year deal.
DAAR Communications is a media conglomerate which pioneered the Africa Independent Television (AIT), Africa’s first satellite television, and Ray FM’s located in Abuja, Lagos and across Nigeria.
Produced by Nigeria’s ace music producer MasterKraft and videos directed by Paul Gambit, the album’s track list includes ‘MAMA RELOADED’ (a flavorized and remixed version of her ever-popular MAMA song) and ‘DAILY PRAYER’.
Popularly known as Kanvee, Ambassador Kanvee Adams’ musical prowess has elevated her to trans-continental heights through her inspirational Gospel songs.
Since she came to the limelight in the early 2000’s with her debut song ‘BE LIKE JOE’, the Liberian Gospel superstar has gone on to produce other smash hit Gospel songs that has won her several national and international awards.
Such songs such as MAMA, CARRY MY LOAD, GRATEFUL, FINAL SAY, THANK GOD I MADE IT, FINALLY PRAISE, HEART DESIRE, among others, have had immediate impact upon being released. The latest is her motivational patriotic song, LIBERIA IS ON THE RIZING’, done following Liberia’s first historic landmark democratic transition in over seven decades in 2018.
Earlier, in 2014, she was conferred the KORA Awards Goodwill Ambassador to her native Liberia.
Kanvee is Liberia’s highest national award-winning Gospel artiste, having swept ‘Artist of The Year’, ‘Best Gospel Artist of the Year’, ‘Best Inspectional Artist of the Year’ and ‘Best Selling-Album of the Year’ multiple times from the Liberia Association of Gospel Musical Artists (LAGMA) and the Musician Union of Liberia.
Since 2002, she has produced over 18 gospel albums, the release concludes.
