MONROVIA – The Leadership of the National Patriotic Party (NPP), consistent with the ruling of the Board of Commissioners of the National Elections Commission in the intra-party dispute within the Party, held a one-day consultative meeting between the Party’s Standard Bearer, Dr. Jewel Howard-Taylor and Chairman, James P. Biney and other officials.
The meeting brokered by a Special Mediation Committee was aimed at harmonizing key decisions taken by both sides during the period of the dispute. During the consultative meeting, both sides agree on the following:
That henceforth, consistent with the By-laws and Constitution of the Party, the Standard Bearer and Chairman shall hold constant consultations aimed at unifying the Party;
That consequent to some incoherence between the Party’s printed 2016 Constitution and Propositions made at the Constitutional Convention held in Bomi in 2016, it was agreed that a specialized committee be established to harmonize the Party’s By-laws and Constitution using the 2000 amended Constitution as a guide. The committee comprises the following members: Cllr. J. Lavela Supuwood, Ex-Officio, Cllr. Stanley Kparklain, Atty. David Kolleh, Atty. J. Allison Barco, Wayfa F. Ciapha, J. Randolph Cooper, C. Neileh Daitouh and Andrew Peters- Secretary General shall serve as Resource person.
It was further agreed that a Convention Committee be constituted and given a term of reference to conduct of the Counties Restructuring and the 7th Biennial Convention. The Convention Committee comprises rormer Speaker, Hon. Nyudueh Morkonmano, Chairperson; Dr. Roland S. Massaquoi, Co-Chairperson; Cllr. J. Lavela Supuwood, Member; Arthur A.D. Saye, Member; Madam Rosetta Cole. Member, Charlene A. Taylor (Asst. Sec. Gen./ADM) Member and Morris Paye (Asst. Sec. Gen. /Fin.) Member.
Further, it was agreed that the County restructuring, pursuant to the 2016 Buchanan Mandate, shall be conducted from April 17-19, 2020, at the respective county capitals; while the Seventh (7th) Biennial Convention is slated for May 15-17, 2020 in Monrovia. It was further agreed that the process leading to these activities shall closely by guided by the National Executive Committee of the Party, the resolution of the Buchannan Convention and the Constitution of the NPP.
Meanwhile, the NPP National Executive Committee is urging all partisans of the Party desirous of participating in the forthcoming Mid-term Senatorial elections to register their aspiration with their respective county chapters.
