According to him, the process in which the CDC primary was conducted displayed transparency and the fact that choices were made by member of CDC.
He believes no one person is above the custodians of CDC and should do nothing to bring its activities to disrepute.
“This will not happen in the leadership. If you are in government and disrespect the mandate of the party, the party will stand up and fight you,” CDC Chairman Morlu said.
He added: “If you do so you will not stay long in your position. CDC must go to the election united. The responsibility to succeed lies with you and us.”
He noted that in two weeks, all stalwarts of the party will have to move about to ensure that the message of CDC winning all of the 15 counties is implemented.
Receiving the aspirants, he said: “We like to on behalf of the founding father, the illustrious standard bearer, receive our successful candidates and turn them over. You’re hereby unleashed in your respective counties to go and win. You’re declared blessed for battle and you will go and conquer.”
“We are the strongest, but we will not be complacent. We will work as if we are the least. No political party believes in women empowerment than the CDC,” he said.
Morlu encouraged women of CDC to participate in electoral process, even though, no woman was part of the 15 aspirants.
He added: “This battle is about saving the souls of Liberia. The POC has brought proud and dignity to the party.”
At the ceremony, Coalition for Democratic Change Secretary of the Committee, Andrew Peters described the pending senatorial elections as the “battle to capture Benghazi.”
Mr. Peters said, the CDC is ready to go from village, house and room-to-room ensure that the party wins majority of the seats in Liberia.
For his part, the chair of the Primary Committee of CDC, Jefferson Tamba Koijee said he was not surprised of the demonstration by partisans of the CDC.
Koijee said, the participation of CDCians in the primary across the 14 counties shows that they are in gear to ensure that CDC is successful in the pending midterm senatorial elections.
Commending the supporters, he said, “We want to say thank you so much to the regional chairmen. Our people have reposed their confidence. We will appreciate and gown you.”
“We are not surprised at your bold face assembly because you demonstrated same in 2017. We have come before all, the choices of the Liberian people through the primary.”
Meanwhile, the aspirant for Montserrado County, Thomas Fallah said, “You have reposed trust and confidence in us shall not go unnoticed and we shall conquer. You have done a marvelous job. Amb. Weah you are godsent and we will follow your leadership.
“You subjected a former Pro-Temp and Speaker to a primary; because of George Manneh Weah, an ordinary plank seller was selected as Representative for three consecutive year,” Fallah asserted.
While rallying supporters he, however, encouraged the opposition to do their work, rather than denigrating aspirants of CDC.
“International partners, the opposition must do their work, we believe in the democracy. We will change this party, we will pledge our unflinching support to the party as a solemn. I am speaking to you now as the chairman of the Aspirants council of the CDC. Don’t fight, remain peaceful,” Fallah said.
