The Jones, Cooper, Scott and Thorpe families announce with deep sadness the sudden death of their husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, family and friend Dr. Arma Jacob Jones.
This sudden sad event occurred in the afternoon of Monday, July 6, 2020 at Shady Grove Adventist hospital Gaithersburg, MD.
Dr. Jones was a Graduate of the Sarbonne University in Paris, France in 1955; Along with his medical studies, he studied music with a focus on classical music.
He was an instructor of French at the University of Liberia. On many occasions, he served as interpreter at the State Department, when there was a French speaking guest, during the presidency of President William V.S. Tubman.
Dr. Jones served as Head of dentistry in Harper City Maryland County and Head of dentistry at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center, Monrovia, Liberia;
He successfully operated his private clinic until the coup took place in 1990.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife of 55 years Angelique Cooper Jones. His children Arma, Michael, Andrea, Francis (deceased) Donna, Sivi, Clarence and Samuel Jerome. 16 grandchildren, great grand children, sister, Ella Scott, nieces Miata Warner , Shirley Thorpe, nephew Roosevelt Jones, his special friend Ed Neblett and many other family members and friends in the United States , Liberia and around the world.
He was a worshipful brother of Corinthian Lodge #15, Bomi Territory, Liberia.
He was an asset to Effort Baptist church Paynesville, Liberia (his mother church) where he served as Deacon.
Dr. Jones was a faithful member of PathWays Baptist Church, Gaithersburg, Maryland, where he enjoyed worship and Sunday school.
A memorial service will be announced later.
