Minister of Foreign Affairs Minister Dee-Maxwell Kemayah has dispelled rumors of receiving moneyfor signing gay rights on behalf of Liberia, as indicated in the public glare.
According to him, statements by some individuals of him signing a resolution aimed at legitimizing same-sex marriage in Liberia are political and far from reality.
He cautioned those involved to always find a means of getting clarity on misinformation being spewed in the public, noting that he is accessible.
There have been several media reports accusing Foreign Minister Dee-Maxwell Kemayah of signing gay rights, but he further described the rumors as a propaganda spree.
He said the time for the campaign has expired, and people should not get involved with propaganda that speaks vilum to the campaign rather than embracing peace.
Kemayan, at a Joint Presidential Transitional Team general meeting of sub-clusters committee on Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, January 3, noted, told members of the oncoming team not to dwell on preconceived notions about him or any other members of the outgoing administration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He said his administration is proceeding on the account of transparency and there should be no fear from the incoming leadership.
Minister Kemayah further maintained that going forth to January 22, there should be cardinality among members of the joint team members, expressing openness to work for the successful turning over of power to incoming President, Joseph Nyumah Boakai.
He also presented full details, including a budgetary analysis of the activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and where they are with unfinished business.
According to him, these engagements are intended to enable the incoming administration to have an insight into workings, successes, pitfalls, and challenges at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Foreign Affairs Minister, however, acknowledged heated dialogues during said the period of transition, but noted that it was necessary, especially when those raising concerns are not in the know but have later realized.
He then lauded the team lead of the cluster subcommittee, John Ballot, and his team for coordination following the discussion.
For his part, Amb. John Ballot welcomed the latest procedure surrounding the transitional process and noted that the incoming administration is also open to working in the best interest of Liberians.
Ballot clarified that the incoming administration has no intention of witch-hunting anyone but would like to see the right things done.
He added that there are questions which the incoming would also love the outgoing administration to address for an onward smooth transitional process.
Meanwhile, Amb. Ballot lauded Minister Kemayah for his unique role played at the Foreign Affairs level to ensure a smooth transition.
