Gbarnga, Bong County — Mr. George Toto, a presidential aspirant in the upcoming elections of the United Bong Citizens Association in the Americas (UBCAA), has said the rumored decision of the Board of Directors in the absence of the General Assembly to change the venue of the election only few weeks to elections is an attempt to undermine the integrity of the election and a recipe for electoral fraud.
Natives of Bong County residing in the United States of America under the banner UBCAA will be going to the polls to elect new officials to steer the affairs of the organization for the next three years.
The date for the election hasn’t been decided, but speculations are rife that the Board of Directors of the organization are contemplating on moving the venue of the election from Philadelphia to Minnesota. However, FrontPageAfrica has been unable to reach to Board chairman Mr Nathaniel Dakaboi regarding the authenticity of the speculations.
Toto, a native of Totota, lower Bong County, said any decision by the Board to change the venue would distort logistical preparations that had been made by leaders of the host chapter as agreed during the last election and convention.
“We are now deeply concerned by the rapid, unjustified, premeditated, and calculated mystery behind the relocation of the venue for the election,” he said.
Toto said it would also violate the Standing Orders, Statutes and Laws governing the UBCAA. “We are seeing a blatant violation of Article VI, sub-section 4, Amendment 16 of the constitution of the UBCAA which speaks to the election dates,” he said.
“It is important to note that the Constitution of the UBCAA is very clear on the roles and responsibilities of the Board of Directors and the Executive Body in Article IV, section 1 Amendment 5 and Article VI, Amendment 14 respectively.”
“We have been deeply concerned with the growing anomalies associated with the hosting of the elections for the UBCAA which was previously scheduled to take place in Philadelphia in some parts of 2020 but could not be held as a result of the Covid-19 Crisis that became and Global Pandemic of International concern,” Toto said.
“Consistent with the decision taken by the General chapters, when they met last year via teleconference, it was decided that due to the Covid-19 crisis, the elections be rescheduled for 2021. It will be ill consequential for the Board of Directors to make a decision doesn’t have the authority to make and far beyond its operational constitutional scope,” he added.
The rumored change of the elections venue has been a major talking point on social media, with an official of the Board and president of UBCAA Pennsylvania chapter registering their disapprovals.
Madam Elizabeth Bemah, president of the Pennsylvania Chapter Monday took to Facebook to announce her objection.
She wrote: “Again, we have spent money and time preparing for the upcoming convention. The DVC (Delaware Valley Chapter) was voted to host the upcoming convention. Based on request from the National president, I took my deligent citizen initiative to organize our citizens. We are glad and waiting to host the convention. Remember, no citizen is more citizen than another citizen. We strong against division!”
Blyden Kennedy, chaplain of the Board couldn’t hide his anger at the Board’s rumored decision to change the venue of the election when he responded to a post on Facebook: “UBCAA, a failed organization. How possible is it to plan a successful convention in less than two months? No wonder some of us have personally disassociated all ties with UBCAA until it can get it acts together.”
