Monrovia – LISCR FC beat Keitrace 2-0 in continuation of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) first division national league at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia on June 17.
Striker Christopher Jackson got the opening goal in the sixth minute through a placement and Trokon Myers sealed the win seven minutes later with a powerful shot.
LISCR have been making steady progress since Abraham Sese took over from Robert Lartey at the end of the first phase.
“I am urging you to now take each of our remaining games in the league with complete focus because we need to win the majority of our remaining games so that we can finish the league among the best two teams,” Sese told his players.
Midfielder Julius Nah, striker Fallah Sheriff, Richard Lloyd, Carlos Sanney, Myers and Jackson made the difference for LISCR.
Keitrace head coach Emmanuel Dee tried all he could but all attempts failed all because they did not play together as a team and the majority of their passes were not to standard.
“Our defeat was caused by my midfield’s failure to keep our opponents off the ball. That failure gave the winning side the advantage which led to their success against us but nevertheless, I am calling on my players not to give up but to take our remaining games with seriousness,” Dee told journalists.
Bobby Williams and Abdullai Bility came close to scoring in the 27th and 55th minutes but both shots were saved by goalkeeper Prince Wlame.
LISCR have won four, drawn one and lost one under Sese and have 20 points. Elsewhere, NPA Anchors and Holder FC drew 0-0 while FC Fassell went down 1-0 to ELWA United.
