Monrovia – The West African Football Union (WAFU) has invited Barrack Young Controllers (BYC) to a four-team champion’s inter-club tournament in Dakar, Senegal from March 30-April 2.
Others are Ivory Coast’s AS Tanda, Wa All Stars of Ghana and Senegal’s union Sportive Goréenne.
The tourney is being sponsored by FOX Sports, a giant United States (Los Angeles) TV network with a massive worldwide audience, which recently signed a sponsorship deal with WAFU.
The tournament, which should have taken place from December 8-10, 2016, was postponed due to a conflicting date with a religious festival in Senegal.
It has been confirmed that CAF President Issa Hayatou and rumored that FIFA President Gianni Infantino will be in Dakar for the weekend event.
One may also assume, because of the prestige associated with the tournament, major scouts from Europe will be on hand to see talents.
The communication from WAFU states that the organizers will shoulder transportation and accommodation for a 25-man delegation of teams.
According to the invitation, a camera crew from FOX TV will be sent to Monrovia to film and profile BYC for advertisements.
BYC President Sekou Konneh welcomed the tournament and wants it to be annual in West Africa.
